A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held recently to celebrate the official opening of Fort Payne’s newest interstate interchange. The interchange will connect I-59 with 49th Street on the north side of Fort Payne, only a few hundred yards from where 49th Street connects to U.S. 11 near Fort Payne High School. This interchange will be a tremendous help to industrial recruitment efforts and will also help lessen congestion throughout the town caused by traffic to existing industries at the north of town. The project represents the work of many elected officials and individuals over over more than 10 years.
